Bianchi Biowine – Gattinara ![]()
Bianchi (www.bianchibiowine.it) is one of the historical estates producing Nebbiolo-based wines in northern Piedmont, founded in 1785 by Giuseppe Bianchi I. Based in Sizzano, the Bianchi family has been producing Gattinara since the early decades of the XIX century, growing in reputation to the point of becoming one of the most renowned and sought-after wine brands of Italy between WWI and WWII.
The original plot of estate vineyards was 5 Ha at the beginning of the XX century, but in the 1980′s the property expanded and new vineyard holdings were acquired, up to today’s 20 Ha. Bianchi is also known for being one of Italy’s first certified organic proudcers by AIAB [Associazione Italiana Agricoltura Biologica], thanks to Paolo Tancredi Bianchi’s far-sighted vision and resolution to convert the estate vineyards to sustainable agriculture as early as the mid 1980s.
