La Cipriana – Bolgheri: Tuscany
Located in the coastal region of Tuscany, Cipriana is a family-run wine estate founded in 1975 by Otello Fabiani and his two sons, who restored the existing but then-abandoned vineyards and equipped the farmhouse with a modern cellar.
Estate vineyards amount to 6 Ha all located around the family villa in the southern reaches of the prized Bolgheri Doc appellation. In recent times Otello Fabiani hired respected agronomist Attilio Pagli to improve the quality of his one and only wine, Cipriana Bolgheri Rosso Doc ‘San Martino’.
Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Doc is a worldwide renowned wine appellation found along the Tuscany coastline, named after an historical locality located in the northern part of the commonality of Castagneto Carducci [75 Km. south of Pisa and 264 Km. north of Rome].
The Bolgheri wine growing area consists of the whole territory of Castagneto Carducci, the except for the tiny eastern strip running from the main local road to the seaside. Cipriana is located in the southernmost part of the appellation.
The gravelly-textured, limestone-based soil (rich of iron oxides, active limestone and other crucial mineral nutrients), the beneficial influence of Thyrrenian sea breezes.
The unparalleled luminosity of the air, the great annual heat summation and the scarcity of rainfalls during harvest time are the key-factors that enable international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah to fare so well in this unique, blessed micro climate.
Cipriana Bolgheri Rosso Doc ‘San Martino’ brings you a fine and unadulterated rendition of the prized Bolgheri terroir at a moderate, approachable price point.
