Molino Sant’Antimo

Molino Sant’Antimo – Montalcino

Located in the south-eastern corner of the Montalcino appellation, Molino Sant’Antimo is the family estate of Carlo Vittori, a graduated agronomist formerly in charge of the vineyard management chez Val di Suga and Castello Romitorio.

Estate vineyards amount to 10 Ha. for the most part situated at 200-250 mt asl and lying on classic ‘Galestro’ soil intermixed with ferrous clay and gravels. 4.5 Ha are dedicated to Brunello di Montalcino, the remaining part of the plantings produce Rosso di Montalcino, Sant’Antimo Rosso and Chianti Colli Senesi Docg, for total yearly production up to 80.000 bottles.

The cellar is brand new and equipped with medium-size wooden barrels, for a most traditional yet clean vinification protocol, thoroughly respectful of both Sangiovese’s varietal character and the unique mineral signature of the Montalcino terroir.

The resulting Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino are fruitier and smoother compared to Mastrojanni’s austere style, though structured and ‘serious’ enough to evolve well for a decade and longer. In addition to the classic Montalcino appellations, Molino Sant’Antimo produces also Chianti Colli Senesi, Morellino di Scansano and a Toscana Igt SuperTuscan based on Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
